West Colfax has a rich and diverse history in Denver. Over 100 years ago, West Colfax developed as the residential and business center for the Jewish Community, and several large Victorian homes were built along Stuart St., now a historic district. West Colfax Avenue became a part of US Highway 40 in the 1940s, a 26 mile stretch through Denver where hotels, restaurants, and clubs were built; reminders of them still dot Colfax today. West Colfax remains one of the most diverse and culturally unique neighborhoods in Denver.
